Metadata is Marketing

Increase Sales & Lower Costs: A Step-By-Step ONIX Guide for Publishers.
ONIX (Online Information Exchange) is the standard in the publishing industry for computer-to-computer communication about bibliographic data. Basically, it allows you to represent information about your books in a neutral way: without any form attached to the content. In that way, ONIX gives publishers the ability to share infinitely more information about their books with infinitely more people, but often this opportunity is not taken advantage of. Reasons for this are many, but, in general, publishers have been unsure why they need to put extra information into an ONIX file.
